The shining

OVERVIEW

This project reimagined Stephen King’s The Shining through a fully illustrated edition that uses ink wash drawings to capture the novel’s haunting atmosphere. The illustrations focus on the Overlook Hotel itself—depicting it not just as a setting, but as an active force that shapes and reflects the unraveling of the characters. Through layered washes and stark contrasts, the visuals emphasize the tension between the house’s imposing presence and the psychological decline of those trapped within it, reinforcing the novel’s themes of isolation, fear, and supernatural influence.
